media about BRICS International Fashion Federation
The BRICS+ Fashion Summit hosted executives from dozens of international fashion week events including those in Algeria, Cambodia, Congo, Costa Rica, Ghana, Jordan, Morocco, Panama, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Qatar and Zambia. Some of these executives joined fashion and textile association CEOs and heads of educational institutions from more than 50 countries to form the BRICS International Fashion Federation. “Fashion brands, designers and markets face common challenges…that can be more effectively addressed through collective action…so there is a need for a platform for emerging markets to amplify our voice,” said BRICS IFF memorandum signatory Sunil Sethi, chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India.
”The creation of the BRICS International Fashion Federation is a fundamental step towards fostering collaboration and sustainable growth in the fashion industry among these emerging countries. Each of the BRICS countries has a unique culture and heritage, and by joining forces, we can share knowledge, technology and innovation, as well as promote responsible practices that benefit both the environment and our communities,” says Karina Díaz Vargas, CEO of Costa Rica Fashion Week
The Federation represents an exciting opportunity for emerging markets, it also raises important questions about what it will take to achieve lasting impact. For now, BRICS IFF stands at a crossroads, with the potential to either redefine global norms or remain on the periphery of an industry still largely controlled by established powerhouses.
The primary goals of the Federation are to strengthen partnerships among fashion communities across different countries, promote sustainable industry practices, facilitate cultural exchange, support emerging professionals, and help designers in accessing the international market.
